LYMM HIGH SCHOOL

Getting Involved with the School

Leadership Opportunities

We encourage all of our students to develop their leadership skills by taking part in some of the many opportunities available, from peer mentoring of lower school students to maths ‘buddying’ to acting as prefects or joining our student leadership team who are involved in making decisions which involve the whole school.

our current student Leadership Team

Head Student

Seth wall

I am really grateful and excited to be part of the student leadership team and to have been given the opportunity to serve as one of the head students. In this role, I hope to help make Lymm High Sixth Form even more inclusive and welcoming than it already is. One of my main goals is to bring students together through fun and friendly inter-hall activities and challenges, similar to those in the lower school. We’ve already started working on an enrichment fair to promote clubs and societies to the new Year 12s – something that will not only be enjoyable, but also help them build useful and transferable skills. Ultimately, I want to help create a Sixth Form environment that feels inclusive, engaging, and supportive for everyone.

Head Student

Elizabeth Doherty

I feel privileged to have been appointed as Head Student this year, and I am excited to use the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the Lymm High community along with my fellow students on the leadership team.  Having recently returned from Kenya as part of the new AfriTwin programme, I believe that we can use the connections developed as a starting point to build a long-term relationship with the schools and communities that we visited.  This will be for the benefit of both Lymm and the partner schools in terms of exploring different cultures, encouraging a pipeline of future exchanges and also creating opportunities for fundraising to help give them the basics that we take for granted. I plan to do this by setting up and supporting charity days as well as corporate fundraising.

Deputy Head Student

Zita Walsh

I am very thankful and proud to have been given a role on the student leadership team because it is an honour to represent this school and contribute to its growth. This position gives us as a leadership team the ability to support our peers and help bring students together, where we can encourage teamwork, celebrate achievements and make school life even more enjoyable and inspiring for everyone. I would love to make a difference by strengthening our year 7 buddy programme as starting secondary school can be very overwhelming and I believe that students should feel supported and guided from the beginning. I hope to develop this programme so the year 7s feel valued supported and inspired in making the most out of their school journey here at Lymm High.

Deputy Head Student

Emilia Franks

I am really excited to begin my work as Deputy Head Student. One of my aims is to increase participation in enrichment and extracurricular opportunities across all year groups by introducing a more diverse range of activities to inspire all students to engage in clubs each academic year. This would facilitate the development of new hobbies and other life skills, including collaborative teamwork, which would complement academic aspirations. Having benefitted from the school’s Gateway programme, I would like to help support the Year 12s who wish to consider early applications for university. Outside of school, I enjoy dance, music, and coaching gymnastics, where I have gained valuable skills that I am eager to apply while working with both staff and students.

Student Leadership Body

The holders of our senior leadership positions outlined their vision at the start of the year, and they are currently working towards their goals. Grace is striving to improve links with businesses in our local area, whilst Lucy is embedding support for students aspiring to achieve places at prestigious universities. Ed is working alongside our mental health team in school and paying particular attention to men’s mental health. Emily is working along side our eco and charities teams.

However, student leadership goes beyond the senior positions, and it is more than just a job title. We have functional areas which address charities, equality and diversity, mental health, community liaison, environmental issues, and scholars. Our charities team raise funds for MacMillan, Wear it Pink Breast Cancer Awareness, Children in Need, Save the Children along with our legacy hall charities Claire House, Meningitis Research Foundation, Help for Heroes, St Rocco’s Hospice and The Christie. Our Eco Team are working hard with our lower school students to ensure we retain our status as a “National Eco-School”. Along with staff they manage teams for water, transport, and biodiversity.
